Default New old boat

Kids wanted a boat and I wanted a project, so we're all happy. Just pulled the trigger on a 1972 20 ft. The deck is shot, but the hull and transom seem solid. Has a Mercury tower of power, but I'll most likely repower. Original tank is under the console seat. Have removed the console and the tank. Plan to get a tank fabricated to go under the deck. I think I want to remove the liner and leave about a 6 inch gunnel. I don't think I'm going to go bracket route. But maybe raise the transom to 25?

I've enjoyed looking at all the restorations on here and already gotten a lot of valuable information, but get ready for a lot of questions.

Thanks
Sal

sal, just curious how did you find the boat (craigslist or something) and how much did you pay for it.

Can't wait to see the restoration!

Default Fuel tank

You pulled the tank out? Was it the Orginal from when the boat was built? I am trying to cut a access in my floor with out pulling the whole cover from over the tank. If you have any measurements or pics you could share would be great.

Cwynne, my tank was under the center console. I can grab some measurements tonight if you need them. But I didn't have to cut anything as it just sat there.
