Default Fuel tank grounding

Does an alluminum fuel tank need to be grounded?

Yes and most of them will come with a grounding tab.

Yes it does have a grounding tab. Can I ground it to the battery? And I wouldn't want that to happen.

One green wire to the fuel filler, and the other to the battery (-) post.

As federally required, the fill housing, tank, and vessel ground/ battery negative should be bonded with a connection with a combined resistance of less than 1 ohm- ABYC standard h-24.15.1. ABYC h-24 covers all important elements of gas tank installations- they are the standards followed by major manufacturers.
