Default Re: Need help with multiple repairs to the hull.....

Back from the dead! So I had the transom checked out and I got the ok on it. So the next plan was reattaching the cap & hull and the stringers & transom.

The top cap/hull joint wasn't too big of a deal. I used bolts and self tapping screws where bolts wouldn't work (no inside gunnel access). I have a solid joint now. If it fails again its getting getting glassed.

Next I moved to the transom/stringer joints. This was my first time glassing so I kept it simple and got some west systems epoxy. I used some of the 404 filler to fill the gaps between the stringer and transom (after I ground out the gaps). Nat at Get The Charters was nice enough to hook me up with some 1708 cloth and I got to work. I laid 3 strips of 1708 (5", 7" 10") on top and on each side of the stringer. Then I put a final strip over the stringer to cover up the ends the on the stringer. Its look like it came out really well to my eyes! Question, should I simple paint bilgekote over this 1708 or should I put down one more layer of epoxy first?

Next up is installing the new rubrail, which I have to pickup at west marine. I used the same one that strict did in his '69 20ft rebuild, and its a pain because it comes in two 20ft long sections. Sorry I didn't take more photos I will try to get a few more as things progress.
