DIY Engine install
For the Merc gurus and those that have done your own engine install, does anybody know what the flywheel shaft thread size is for a lifting ring on a Mercury 200 EFI or whether there is a threaded hole in the block for one. I'm assuming it does not have a lifting ring built in (have not taken possession of the engine yet).
The old engine is gone and the transom is being raised, now I just need a little motivation. Thanks -Muddy |

Re: DIY Engine install
The Mercury lift ring goes in the threads on top of flywheel.

Re: DIY Engine install
Lifting Eyes cost b/w $25 - $40 . . . depending on the dealer you buy one from. It's worth every penny. They work on almost all mercs.

Re: DIY Engine install
Thanks guys! What do you hang a 400+ lb motor on for long term storage (until I finish the transom and deck), or do you just lay it on it's side? I have an old stand, but there is no way it is supporting a 200.
