Default A Memorable Classic Restore

Here's a film clip tribute of a WW2 PT boat restored by a bunch of PT boat veterans.
I hope all (especially Vets) enjoy this as much as I did

Wow, That is cool! My hat's off to those gentleman. I have a hard enough time changing planks on my 42'. That is a big wooden boat. They've done a great job. I wish I was closer also to take a tour.

Capt Chuck, That's Very Cool!

Among the first models I ever made was a PT 109.

I still think they're cool!

I think I just might donate my Dad's old .30-06 BAR to the PT 658 gang. I had no idea its the last of her class.

Great video Chuck! Do you know if that boat is out in Oregon or is it on the east coast? There used to be a PT Boat Museum in Fall River, Mass. near the battleship; that bridge in the video looks a lot like the bridge I remember near that museum.

3 years ago there was a restored PT boat in Key West that you could go for a ride on . It was located next to a large old sailing ship that I believe you could also go out on.We talked to a guy that was at the boat dressed in battle gear that said he was a gunner on a PT boat . We asked about the machine gun with the shield in front of it and he said there was no need to duck behind anything when under fire because everything was plywood to save weight and speed was there best friend.I don't know if it's still there or not . A friend of mine in Morehead City has a meticulously restored Higgins which was also a military boat.It is used as a private yacht called The Lookout. It is extremely fast and will walk away from her other boat a 43' Buddy Davis custom sportfisher. The Lookout is painted battleship gray and is docked in Spooners Creek. The owner bought the boat from someone for a song and spent years and countless dollars having her restored. It had sat on the bottom for years somewhere near Wilmington NC.

Check out the pics. The bow shot with the jaws looks strikingly like a Seacraft entry.

I seem to recall a group at the DeLand, FL airport restoring a PT boat. This was a few years ago. It was in rough shape then. I thought PTs were plywood boats. This one looks planked?
