1977 20CC with 1980 85 HP Evinrude
I bumped into a local 77 20cc w/ a 1980 85 HP Evinrude in original and running condition for $2,750. Do you guys think that it will have any decent performance if the motor runs well? I don't need to go fast or far, just around the river with the occational big boat wake. I'd like to pull the girls on a tube, but feel like that's asking alot for a little motor like that.
Interestingly, it comes with a 1958 Johnson 5-1/2 HP kicker on a bracket. It looks like it was stored on a lift in a boathouse for the last 30 years. Pretty cool. Just when I was finally able to give up the four boat theory, here we go again... Any comments would be appreciated.

Otto,
You should get some decent performance out of that motor if the compression is good. My dad used to have a Wellcraft V-20 CC with a '90 or '91 Johnson 88 Special and it performed admirably well. There was very little difference between it and the '84 Evinrude 115 that was on the boat before that. |
