Swim platform installation ?

I will be installing a full-transom, teak swim platform on my 23'Tsunami w/ an I/O ( possible fishing obstacle, but it will allow the wife to get on and off when we 'beach it' ).

It's roughly 21"-22" wide by 6.5'- 7' long. I will be using (4) AFI S.S. brackets - these are solid, triangle shaped.

How high above the water line should I mount this ? Is there a try-true method I should know about before I start drilling holes in my beautiful, new transom ?

I was thinking of oversize drilling the holes and then re-filling w/ epoxy and re-drilling to avoid any water intrusion.

Any input ?

Depends on how much You've done to Her. I'd probably to be safe. Launch Her go to the stern grease mark it & Go from there. I added a lot of weight to mine on the rebuild.If I left it where it originally was It woulda slapped the water & Skeered the YellerTails away !??? Hate drill'n dem' Holes in the Transom too!

Make sure you mount it high enough to allow you to tilt the outdrive all the way up.

Whats wrong with a Armstrong Ladder. Easier to board than a platform. Easier to install. Stainless Steel has no maintence [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

Thx for the responses. I was not thinking of using a pc of PVC though. I was just going to drill oversize thru-bolt holes ( excluding the gelcoat skin - I'd leave that the correct bolt diameter ) - then fill with epoxy/cabosil mix, tape both ends - let cure.

Then drill through the cured epoxy w/ one of those centering jigs/tool for the drill - to assure a straight hole. Then mount all and use BoatLife to water proof it up. What do you guys think ?
