heater for painting??

Hey guys! I have been busy in the shop working on a 20'cc and a 23'cc. I really buried myself in projects this winter. I am just about to get ready to prime both hulls and need some help with a heater decision. I am working out of a 30'x30'x15' semi portable tent. I need to buy a heater that will be able to heat the shop and maintain the right temp for spraying awlgrip. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for all the help. This site is a lifesaver! I have photos coming of the whole setup and the whole process.

I suggest those cylindrical shaped, vertical propane heaters. The type you might find on a construction site. Back in my "professional" carpenter days, the drywallers used to use them to dry drywall mud. They would literally turn a house into a sauna!

You should be able to rent them or buy them pretty cheap at a flea market, etc...

I used a kerosene heater for the winter months when the boat was in my garage, may of lost some brain cells from forgetting to air it out. It would cook my garage up to 95.

I forget the brand but I got it at home depot for 75-125$

Just be aware that paint fumes are combustable with an open flame if you're going spray AwlGrip.-PF

wil any of the fumes from the heaters mentioned mess up the curing of the paint? I just don't want to spend $2000 on paint to have it dry with flat spots. Thanks for all of the ideas and input. You guys rock!

All kidding aside ... don’t blow yourself up ...AND I’m sure you’re already aware …watch what you're doing spraying in such a confined space ... that stuff can kill

You can get a small propane torpedo heater at Home Depot for under a $100. They work great. But don't leave it on while your spraying.

I got a kick out of the joke! Flash is my dog's name aka Flash Gordon. I bought a propane torpedo style heater for the shop today and it rocks. I have done a bunch of spraying, just not in my own shop. I just know that all the paints are picky about humidity and temps. We'll see how it goes. Thanks again guys!
