Thanksgiving in the Keys?
Any SeaCraft owners want to meet up around Bahia Honda/marathon over Thanksgiving? I'll have my '72 Seafari 20' there from the 19th - 26th.

Re: Thanksgiving in the Keys?
I'll email you prior to settin' out. Looks like we're gonna be taking two boats this year, the Seafari and my wife's 17' Carolina Skiff. I like reef fishing and trolling, she likes flats and shallows - even got a jet lower on her 115 Mariner.

Re: Thanksgiving in the Keys?
I would like to join you out there, I'll see if my work schedule is free for those days. Where will you be staying in Marathon and where do you launch your boat? I've never boated in that area so please let me know what to expect, thanks!

Re: Thanksgiving in the Keys?
Hi! Just got power and internet after Frances. I'll be camping with my family at Bahia Honda State Park south of Marathon. I launch from the ramp in the park. Good bottom fishing on the Atlantic side, good flats fishing on the Bay side. (Great fly fishing) I raised a small sailfish out of normal season last November, but it only looked my bait over without striking.
Snorkling and SCUBA is good, beginners especially enjoy snorkling Looe Key, about 9 miles west on the Atlantic side. Sombrero reef is not far, either. camping reservations are hard to get at Bahia Honda, easier at Long Key to the north. Send me contact info as time approaches. Pax Christi

Re: Thanksgiving in the Keys?
Glad to know your house and family are safe and sound, and have power!! I know, everytime we had a hurricane in Puerto Rico the power would out for days, I mean, with Jeanne my family had no power for 3 days and it was shut down on purpose to prevent electrocutions and fires! Oh well that's what we have to contend with to live in paradise, don't we? Anyway, thanks for the info, I have to travel to PR before Thanksgiving for my cousin's wedding and some work but hopefully I'll be back in time to see you there. Maybe you can re-train me into some good saltwater fishing since I've been out of the sport for many years. My phone no. is 305-388-3489 in case you want to contact me. Take care!

Re: Thanksgiving in the Keys?
I will be arriving at Bahia Honda on Wed, the 17th. I have to fly out of Key West on Friday the 19th, and return the next afternoon, so Fri and Sat are shot. I can be found in Buttonwood site #19.
If I don't get my lower unit rebuilt by then, we may be coming with my wife's 17' Carolina Skiff. (I had a seal let go, and didn't notice it until a month later - nothing left but saltwater in the lower unit. Yuck!)

Re: Thanksgiving in the Keys?
We decided to bring the Seafari AND the Carolina Skiff. I have a friend who is coming down with his family for the week also, and he is going to pull the Seafari down with his motorhome, and my wife will pull her Skiff while I pull the old pop-up (with the canoe on top )
See ya there!
