Etec 200 on a 20SF
Is anyone running a 200 Etec on a 20 SF?
I am rebuilding mine right now, already have a 25" transom in, no bracket. Re doing deck right now. Is this motor to heavy to self bail if the deck is raised 1"? Assume batteries in console, tanks slid forward, etc.

The standard. 60 degree block. Apparently it's lighter about 430 lbs.
I had a 175 Johnson on it with the 20" transom. I think I would be fine with the transom raised and all the wet foam removed. Thoughts?

Sounds like a good plan to me.

These are the specs on the old 1986 175, and it was on a 20" transom.

I have 435 lb with main engine and kicker on a 20MA with batteries forward and tank forward. I hear that the 75 MA has a higher deck than an earlier SF? It only just self bails. It does, but not hugely. My tank is far forward- under the console and it is only 20 gallons. Batteries are in the console. So if your deck is raised an inch, you might be ok.

From my recent experience if you rebuild the boat using light materials and modern building techniques you can put as heavy an outboard on the transom as you like. My boat now floats on its original lines with a 485# Honda. Decks are dry even with two people standing all the way in the back of the cockpit. Deck is only 1/2" higher than original.
My new tank is 1/4 the weight of original. New foam core decks are 1/4 the weight of original. The old cockpit sole was ridiculously heavy plywood with way too much glass. Throw it out and use 1/2" foam and don't worry about the weight of the outboard. |

If I had to guess I'd raise the floor a hare more... you are doing all the work anyway. I'm running a 200 etec small block on my 20 SF w/ 24" bracket. I went between 3 & 4" up with the floor, glad I did...
