Wind shield
Here is a question - When your wind screen is scratched and blurry is there any thing you can do to clear it up.....?

3M makes a headlight restoration kit. I have used it to clear up foggy and sun-checked Yamaha gauges. It worked very well. I would think it would work for a lexan windshield but not 100% sure.

Was thinking about making my own wing shield and started researching how to do it and learned a lot --- better check and see if the windshield if plexiglas or lexan as lexan is softer and surprised many advise using the harder plexiglas due to its resistance to scratching you can tell by the polished edge if it's plexiglas or lexan

Had good results wet sanding and polishing my vehicles' headlight covers. Worked my way up from 220 up to 1200 and then compounded/polished like my boats' fiberglass hulls.
You probably could do similar process on plastic windshields. |

How do you tell if it's plexiglas or lexan? The edge? What is the difference?
Thanks |

For headlights I sand then clear coat them. Clear coat will fill 320 grit scratches. You wouldn't think it works but in 20 mins you can do 2 headlights.
Not sure what it would look like on a wind screen. But it would be easy to sand some hardware store plexi and try. Lexan polycarbonate is expensive. It it more likely a plexiglass acrylic wind screen. |

Do yourself a favor and make a new windshield out of plexiglass. (less likely to burn when you heat it and bend than lexan)You will need a strip heater -here's just one example- http://www.delviesplastics.com/mm5/m..._Strip_Heaters
Practice bending, and polishing edges with some scraps. Once you make one you will only polish headlight covers. |

I had Port Plastics in Cape Canaveral FL make me an exact replica of my old, foggy, crummy wind shield that I couldnt see out of. It took 1 week and only cost i think 140.
Cant beat that! |
