Measurements and dimensions of cutout
Can someone furnish the measurement from the bottom of the keel to the top of the cutout for a 25" motor and also the width of the cutout at the top and bottom?

Lenny, my cutout which I am closing in is for a 20'' outboard. It is right at 20'' from the bottom of the keel. The cut out is 33 1/2''wide at the bottom and 44 1/2''wide at the top.('73 20SF)You can lay out these numbers on your transom or template, draw it out to get these angles and come up 5" at the bottom of your cut out and you should be there.(25'' from the bottom of the keel and bottom of your cut out)

I figured that was too good to be true. 20" would be from the bottom of the keel to the top of cutout. Thanks for the measurements. Are you going to keep the width the same or bring it in some on yours ?

Yeah it's almost like a trick question. I have inclosed mine to a full transom. I used 3 sheets of marine grade plywood, I bedded and sandwiched a sheet of 1/2" between 2 sheets of 3/4",using a marine grade of epoxy I got from Shine; it's now 2'' thick and has a layer of 6'' tape around the perimeter and a layer of 1708 on it. I'll add more layers later, I ran out of epoxy and my new orders on the way.
I'm sure there are other designs with later models out there, take your time looking at the vast array of photos out there. Once I figure how to send a picture I post replies with photos. |
