Re: Seacraft survives a big hit off of Hatteras
Got it! I got an e-mail with a link that activated it, so its all set. I found an old repair done to my boat tonight. It must have looked like the pic above when it happened While cleaning up the bilge in preperation for new gas tank and ply wood platform for the tank(origional 74') I noticed about a three foot section of glass that ties the stringers to the hull loose, wire brushed and found a really old repair. Looks like a rock? right through the bottom between the left stringer and the center stringer right under the tank. That impact is probably what broke two of the tanks mounts that look broken long ago. They repaired it from the outside and did a decent job. I can't see the old repair due to the fact two keel rollers are right there and there is so much bottom paint on it. Ground out the loose stuff and cleaned it up on the inside and will lay up a couple of layers of glass to help strengthen it up from the inside and tie it up nice and tight. Old boats can tell a tale if you look realy hard I'd love to know the story behind my damage it probably looked like the pics you have above. One nervous ride home! Thanks Jon.
