1977 20ft Master Angler Restoration

Cut the glass for the transom tonight. Ran into a pretty big problem on my top cap. Long story short, where I busted through it, scraping all the coring out, ended up being all uneven. One big high spot. Started grinding it down and noticed where I had put my cabosil to thick it was cracking. Not taking any chances I grinded all the cabosil out and will be replacing it with 4 layers of 1708 and one layer of 1.5oz matt.
Maybe by April I can start priming.

Dang! Looks good, no matter how much frustration ur project provides u, let me tell u its inspiration for me on mine. couldnt help but notice your cap came off and remained solid. i guess diff. b/t ma and sf. when i took the cap off my sf and set it on horses it looked like a roller coaster track! remember it could be worse! lots of luck!

Thanks man. Yeah the cap has been about the only thing that I have had to redo. Just did not want to chance it. Jumping on the bow from off the dock, and throwing the cast net off the bow would have eventually cracked through to the paint the way my luck is sometimes. I am having to get remotivated myself. Spent the last month redoing my wifes shop. This was not in the plans when I started the boat!
The cap did stay pretty striaght and went back on the boat easily. It was pretty light too. If I could do it agian I would have of cut the bow section in to smaller pieces and then glassed it down and also layed a layer of glass down before I layed the wood too.

You're an inspiration. When I convert my MA to a full transom and bracket, this work will be my reference.

Just a heads up, there is a 9X12 hatch that might fit instead of your pie plate on the corner bulkhead. You can mount a fuel filter housing to it, so that it will open up and swing into the boat for easy changing.

Now thats a great idea. Did not think of that. Originally I was mounting it in the bilge. I had bought a stainless mount for that reason. I am going to have to rethink it now. Thanks.

Almost ready for some primer. Hopefully in the next week. I will get some more pics posted later. Haven't had much time to get on the computer.
About every pin hole, scratch, etc has been filled and sanded. Just need to fair the inside of the transom.
