Re: Painting
WELL THIS WEEKEND SURE WAS FUN I GOT TO WET SAND, SAND, SAND, SAND, SAND, SAND, THEN SUNDAY I REALLY HAD LOTS MORE FUN BY ORBITAL SAND, SAND, SAND, SAND, SAND, SAND. TODAY I GOT UP AT 5:30 SO I COULD WET SAND, SAND, SAND BEFORE WORK. DURING THE WEEK I WILL PAINT THE FINAL COAT (I THINK) ON THE CENTER CONSOL AND ALL THE HATCHES. SO THIS COMING WEEKEND I CAN PAINT, PAINT, PAINT THE BOAT. OH BUY THE WAY I AM COMING UP ON BY 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY. I KNOW THINGS WILL BE BETTER THIS YEAR SINCE I AM RUNNING OUT OF THINGS TO SAND, AND FIX.

Re: Painting
Fellow-Ship
Problems??? or just alot of sanding in irregular areas of the inside of the boat....How did the first coat come out on the inside??? How bad is the wet sanding process with the paint....I would guess and hope (from durability standpoint) that it was a pretty tough surface to sand....Also sounds like up to and through the primer coat its not that miserable a process......but it sounds like the paint may be a different story.... Re: Painting
HA SCOTT
NO PROBLEMS JUST COMPLAINTS TIRED IF SANDING. IT’S COMING OUT JUST FINE, IT IS JUST A LOT OF WORKKKKKKK. THE FIRST COAT CAME OUT VERY GOOD I EVEN GET AT LEAST 2 PEOPLE A DAY STOPPING BUY AND CHECKING OUT THE WORK TELLING ME HOW GOOD IT LOOKS. ALTHOUGH NO ONE HAS PICKED UP A PIECE OF SAND PAPER YET THEY ARE A CONTINUES SOURCE OF ENCOURAGEMENT TO ME. THE WET SANDING IS NOT BAD KEEPS DOWN THE DUST AND IT GOES FAIRLY SMOOTHLY. THE PAINTING PROCESS IS NOT BAD EITHER I AM STARTING TO GET A FEEL FOR IT AND NOW HAVE SOME CONFIDENCE ABOUT THE WHOLE THING. I SEE THAT YOU ARE A FISHING ROD BUILDER I ALSO DO THAT AS WELL GOT STARTED WHEN I WAS 14 YRS OLD AND HAVEN’T STOPPED YET. I DON’T SELL MY STUFF NO ONE COULD AFFORD ME. BUT I HAVE BUILD ABOUT 100 TO 150 IN MY LIFE SOME FOR FRIENDS AND MYSELF ONLY DO GRAPHITE RODS NOW. I SURE AM GLAD THERE IS ONE OR TWO OF US LEFT ON THIS PLANET AS CRAZY AS ME WHO LOVE SEACRAFT AND BUILD FISHING RODS. FELLOW-SHIP |

Re: Painting
Fellow-Ship
Two questions for you ....or anyone else Did you sand away all the original non-skid ... I cant remember if you did or did not??? Second...The forward bulkhead that makes the anchor locker....What did you do with that?? I've been told that the Formica can cause adhesion problems with the paint??? I want to replace mine ... but dont know if it can come out/ go back in... in one piece...to be replaced with something like Starboard... Anyone have any experience with this??? |
