Welcome aboard Les! If you haven't seen it, check out Carla's Moesly SeaCraft web site http://www.moeslyseacraft.com/15-scampi.html to learn more about her dad and some of the most innovative, efficient, best riding and best built deep-V hulls ever produced! You'll find this to be a very close nit group of great craftsmen, very much like the classic car and street rod folks, who can give you some good advice on getting that rare gem seaworthy again!

Your's is one Sea Craft "Sweet 15" though. I'm not sure if it would be appreciated as much on the Detroit River as it would be on the canals in Fort Lauderdale or around Peanut Island. You'd get some "thumbs up" there, Buddy. |

Welcome
Les,
You have an amazing piece of history there. I am in the process of doing a full restoration on the potter built scampi I found in Maine (now in Fort Lauderdale). You'll see that my boat has been modernized in may ways with classic colors, a new plexi bubble and hatch, duplicated original seats (from the scampi in fort myers), and something really special for the dash and steering wheel that will be installed this thursday. My boat was just a shell (no seats, motor hatch, motor, drive, plexi bubble, etc.) which is why I decided to go with more modern hardware. In your case I would leave everything original and if you plan to restore, the only thing I would do is find the original burnt orange color and have it repainted. Also, if you ever want to sell it (I wouldn't) please reach out to me - I know plenty of people who would buy it. -Mike |
