I re-read this thread because I was checking out your boat in another thread. I have been researching diesels a bit, (and was envying your boat) and justlast week saw the Steyr website for monoblock diesels, so I got to thinkging.
That isn't the reason I am posting. I was thinking about your fix. It occurred to me that if the extension and right angle (elbow?) you put on the 3/8-24 into your Yanmar is heavier or has a longer lever arm from the threads to the sender or hose, then you might want to see if you can somehow strain relieve it. From the bit I played with diesels at Freightliner, I saw a lot of stuff shake right off of them, and opening up the oil galley would be bad. I don't know what your adapter looks like, it was just a thought. But a failure could make for a bad day. |
