Can't say as I know who Grinderswitch was(confessing ignorance), but those lines sure are familiar. I can almost hear the tune that goes with them

I first saw Grinderswitch in 1976 playing at Miami Baseball Stadium as the 2nd opening band for a concert with Marshall Tucker band (featuring Charlie Daniels of all people) and The Outlaws as headliners . First opening band was BloodRock. Talk about a contrast!
I've been a fan of Grinderswitch ever since. My favorite: Pickin' the Blues from Macon Tracks album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpAoX6IxoFo I got tickets because my aunt was dating the Plectrum Banjo player with the Marshall Tucker band.

Blessing of the Fleet?
I've been PM'd by two different members concerning my doing a Blessing of the Fleet for CSC members and their boats this year at Long Point. I'd be happy to do this.
But there's a caveat: I take the offering of prayers and the dispensation of blessings very seriously. As a priest, these are not frivolous things to me, but one of my great privileges. It's over 1,000 miles round trip for me, and I will have to be back in Shalimar, on Sunday morning, which would necessitate my leaving Sebastian by 2 p.m. on Saturday to head home. So if I'm taking my time, money, and effort to do this, I'd like others to take that seriously, as well. Here's why I hesitate: I went to Anclote years ago to bless Carl for his birthday at Skip & Carla's invitation, with the unspoken expectation that other CSC members would find that to be something they would like to participate in, but after 2 unsuccessful attempts at the hotel to gather people for that purpose, I simply blessed him privately together with Jeanne, and then retired to my own room with my wife and son. So let me know if you would like this to happen. As I said, I'd be very happy to do this, but only if it is really wanted. If it's just the two members who contacted me, well, I'll catch you when you come fishing in the Destin area. But if the larger group thinks this would be beneficial, I'll come. Pax Christi, Fr. Frank

But what about that Fr. Frank - Bloodrock! I got the album, but only played it three times 'cause it kinda' creeped me out. He knows everything there is to know about outboard motors, includ'in "dry-stack Mark 78's" and Southern Rock too - just amazing. You guys is some'thin. |
