not sure if we are talking a family trip here or a fishing trip.
I think we have both groups going, Rainmaker. I will be trying to have my family be a part of it. Our gatherings are usually pretty relaxed, so I would bet that fishing will a be a big part of it, but maybe not as much as your going to want to do. We should work on a few different plans and leave the door open for folks to just cross together if they have other plans...........At this point, I will be in my 18SF with riders in my boat.

Hey Danny, it would be nice to have Caymanboy as our leader. I don't know all the tricks and hoops you have to jump through once you get there, so his leadership would be valuable. However he's still on top my "jealous list".

Here's the gig. I usually leave for the Abaco's 7/15 or so. Run and clear in W/E then run straight to Carter's, usually spend a couple of days around Carter's and Fish Cays, I could come over FoxTown way or stay up around Grand, I would love to spend a couple of days with all you guys, the ol' trawler just mozy's along at a leaping 7kts, but if people are leaving out of Laud or Mijami we can be in radio range. Anyway, got some time to plan.

It sounds like we can split this up a little. Hopefully we will have some folks leaving from the South as well as some leaving from a more Northern location. Perhaps we run over in a couple of groups, figure out where everyone wants to stay based on what they want to do and then plan a couple of get togethers in a spot where everyone can make it.... Should be a great time. We have plenty of time to plan.

I'd vote for mid-July, as statistics say the winds are lowest then. June is often wetter, and the later you go in August, the probability of running into a tropical wave or worse increases!

I used to run from Lake Worth to West End a couple of times a week in my 1st Seafari.

Here's the gig, often in July the ocean lays down to be like glass with almost no swell or chop in the early A.M. I've taken my Seafari over at 5 a.m. and comfortably run 25-30 mph all the 54 miles to West End. Later in the afternoon the sea-breeze gets up and you get a light to moderate chop, and the swell can build to 3'. Speeds necessarily drop then.

Late June through late July, with an early morning departure is the time to go.
