Jackplates
Anyone have any experience w/jackplates on 23? I’m thinking of adding to my 23 walk around. Has 30” transom w/300hp G2 etec

Any performance gains from a hydraulic Plate will be minimal at best. There is a very small mounting sweet spot that once you find it, you are done. It will change with different props though.
I did have a 10" manual on my Tsunami for a few years and liked it but never had to do any adjusting once the motor was at the right height. If you're just needing it to give you the extra height due to the 30" motor, a good manual will do the trick but the least amount of setback the better.

As Ken says. I had a 6" manual and once dialed in never touched it again. If I had it to do over I would have went with a 4" setback.

Not a 23, but, after dialing my motor in, I removed the 3" plate.

Thanks all. Think I’ll look for 4” setback. I guess I could even fill in transom by raising motor all the way up and then tilt out of water. Poor mans bracket...

If you have hydraulic steering with the cylinder mounted to the motor, better check for clearance when tilting. That's the main reason for removing mine.
