Seeking Advice: Wet sanding 41 year old gel coat "step" after decal removal?

Looks really great man!!

I used Presta Strata Ultra Cutting Creme (131932) last year, followed by a few coats of Meguiar's M6332 Flagship Premium Marine Wax with great results... so will likely use what I have... but definitely make note for next time purchase compound/polish. I just need to commit to a few days of work to bring it to the next level like yours!

EDIT: I might try blocking this out tonight starting with 600 wet and see what it does...
