Extend the running surface of the hull with the bracket. Boat will plane quicker and give you better low speed handling.

I'm not a big bracket fan as I have converted one boat from a bracket and was much happier and set my 23 up with a hybrid option that is of much less cost than full floatation and a closed transom. Considering you have an OB hull already you might want to consider how I have set my rig up. For diving and access to the water it is hard to beat and performance wise it has been outstanding.

The 10' set back bracket is manually adjustable and allows the removal of the big stock engine well giving you all the room and more compared to a closed transom. Here's a pic of the inside. The splash well seems short but I have no issues with water getting in or backing down in seas. I also have a 3.5" raised deck so everything drain nicely as well.

This is a great option as well and much less expensive than a new bracket. However, the center of gravity is further back on a cc compared to your boat, it is likely the setback bracket will cause more issues than it will fix on a cc.

I do love the idea of being able to adjust the height of the engine on the fly with a hydrolic jack plate though.
