Default Anyone running the Enertia Eco Prop on a 20'?

Hey Guys,
I've been hiding, Finally got the 20' Tsunami Up and running this week with a 200 hp Mercury. 1993 Motor. Still adjusting Engine Height... Keep in mind i am running at 3500 Feet Elevation so about 500 RPM difference between here and Sea Level....

Tried a 21p high Five - Hooked up Great - Slow out of the Hole -
Tried a 19p Mirage Plus - Was not as impressed as i thought i would be.

and Now i am interested in Trying the Enertia Eco Prop and or the PowerTech in a 17p. if the Eco can hold as good as the Powertech and deliver the Fuel Gains That's what i am after.

And for everyone who is considering less power on the 20' Boy am i ever glad that Flyingfrizzle dropped his 225 EFI on his 20' Tsunami. After seeing his numbers i opted for the 200 Merc because of weight at 390 lbs.

I could not imagine running any less power on this boat... but again i like to go fast on the lakes, but definitely need the fuel economy on the Ocean.

Anyone running a 200 hp on a 20' with the ECO Prop or the PowerTech ?

I suspect asking for fuel economy on your 200 by changing th prop might not get you quite what you want. Generally, a solid hole shot comes from a prop with less pitch than one for best cruise MPG. Because the torque to turn it at a given RPM is a bit less. So there will be more throttling losses. The articles on the Eco prop I have read make me think that differences it makes are trivial. I think anyone who bothers to research and try props will make a decent compromise and get far superior performance to one who uses the first suggestion for their boat. I don't think the Eco is magic based on what I have read. IMO

If the price is no different then certainly try it. Benchmarking it against similar props on the same boat would be useful.

Also lakes and oceans aren't the same. 1 day in 10 I can use a F100 at WOT for any distance at all without getting airborne in buzzards bay (the Altlantic).

A heavier motor is a faster trip to the bottom, though.

Edit: that merc isn't bad at 390 lb for 200 hp, though!

But I can see how a high altitude lake might be different. But if it's that smooth, I wonder about a Seacraft being the right hull for the application?

I just got my 07 200 efi block back last week, 6 fresh new holes and new piston, rings and crank. It is just a rotating assembly as it sits but hope to put it back together this weekend if I can find the time. I am going to swap out the 225 out for this 200 as soon as it is back in one piece and do some prop testing soon. I have a 23 foot proline the 225 is going on. I will run threw some different props and I did pick up an Enertia off ebay so there may be some info on that soon also. The 200 I have just got picked up at Tommy Dunn's shop so it may be faster than the 225 and lighter indeed. For those who don't know tommy he holds some records in the outboard drag racing seen. One of the best merc outboard builders on the east coast if not country. He builds these little 2.5's to over 350 hp. My motor is nothing major like most of his builds or like the pair going on the 27, but lightly modded at the least. The 2.5 merc is a good motha, one of my favorites. Good luck with yours, post up some numbers when you get it going.

Stretcher ... I could have been more specific. I spend part of my time on the lake here. The other Part on the Columbia River (Averages 30mph Winds Every Day with 2' to 4' Wind Chop) and another part on the Pacific Ocean.

I opted for the 20' because of Trailerability and the Legendary Ride on Rough Stuff.

I know we cant have everything but on this Side of the Country We have to do things a little different than you permanent Coasties.

SEACRAFT = PERFECT Hull for my Application. The 200 Merc weighs 20 lbs more than the Johnnyrude V-4 at 368 lbs. Looking for the Best All Around Prop and then will continue to test out for the Perfect Set Up.

Frizz, Now i am Jealous... That 200 You have is going to be Bad to the Bone for sure. If u get a chance to drop that Enertia on please post. No matter what i try i can't get my engine high enough. I am installing a 4" set back jack plate today. I am in the bottom Hole Now and still at least 1" too Deep on the AV Plate.

Thanks to you i went with the 200 and i am Glad i did. It still screams now with the AV spraying water like a Fire Hose. I will have some more data over this week. I think i saw somewhere that Bigshrimpin tried the enertia but i could not find that post but it was on a Master Angler.

The balance CG with the 200 is Perfect. Self Bailing on the 74' Tsunami. I have moved both Batteries to the Front and moved the 50 Gallon Gas tank up 8". I am waiting now to find out if i can Drop an 80 Gallon Tank In and still move it forward.

Looking for a Powertech 17p now. and will re-run the mirage and high 5 when i get the jack plate on today.

Keep me posted on that new 2.5 Dragon you got.

Diameter is going to be an issue with the ECO enertia and that 200 merc (16" is too big) 16" will just barely clear the cavitation plate. Use the older Enertia's. What were the max RPM for both props? Make sure you can spin that motor to 5800rpm with the prop you chose. I'm surprised you didn't like the mirage plus. Play with the engine height and PVS plugs before you give up on it. If the engine height is too low . . . the ride can seem a bit harsh with the extra sternlift.

FF - I never got to try the Enertia on the 20MA. I do run a 17P enertia my 23 now . . . it'll turn about 300rpm's faster than a 17P mirage plus. On the 20MA I had a LOT of fun with the highfive, but it wasn't the fastest prop.

I just picked up the 17p eco for my 23 with a single f250. I went with 17p as I read that the prop is pitch higher and is also variable. The 17 seems to be about a 19p. The prop is noticeably bigger 16" dia and also the blades have a lot of meat. When i first put the boat in gear the other day I noticed it moves a lot of water just in idle.

The numbers before 47+/-mph WOT @ 58-5900 rpm, sucking about 17-18 gph, fast cruise around 28-29 mph @ 41-4200 rpm burning 12gph
or 3800 rpm @ 25 mph @ 9-10 gph normal cruise

after WOT 46ish @ 6000 rpm, 3800 rpm @ 29 mph and 7-8 gph. Fast cruise was about 31 mph @ 4200 rpm and 9 gph.

The prop hooked up real well. good hole shot even with all three plugs in prop. stuck in with no significant ventilation when at fast cruise and doing sharp 360 turns.

So far so good and worth the investment. I had to get a prop though as my mirage plus 19 fell of when the hub failed, weirdest thing. I got a good deal from a shop in Wisconsin, way cheaper than other stores online and local here in Florida.

I could have gone with a 19p maybe. But I need to see how the boat would run with a full load first.
