deck and floor paint on 18sf. help!

I'm thinking about painting the deck and floors on my 18sf
Floor solid and original. Original gelcoat. I really want to just paint over
My existing non-skid with a roller and not do the walls ? Bad idea?
I could brush the small strip of non skid on my deck up top and
Do the floors pretty easy? I also would like to do it myself but wouldn't mind paying someone
What paint and is this an easy task? How much is most good paint?

Sounds like a good plan but I would do the walls while you have the chance....
Rolling and tipping etc is easy enough to do.
I have used Interlux Perfection (2 part) system with good results...approx $70 quart.
I have also used Pettit Easypoxy with their white undercoater (primer) with good results as well...usually $25 for the primer and $35 for topcoat.
Also, alot of people have used signature paint and sterling paints with good results....
If you are close to West Marine search on line for cheapest of above Interlux Perfection and Pettit Easypoxy and print out the pricing on line...bring in to West Marine and they will price match it!
Will be an easy do it yourself project..just prep, remove as much hardware as possible and use blue painters tape to tape things you dont remove

I just painted the floor on my 18. It was so easy and looks so good that I'm going to paint the rest of the insides. There is a lot on the net including videos about how to paint a deck. I was going to use sand for the non skid and a buddy of mine encourage me to use the Iterlux non skid. I'm really glad I took his advise. It looks like the original non skid. I also used the Hatteras off white 4208 and it seems pretty darn close to the original color (only without 37 years of oxidation). Good luck.

I am close to a West Marine so I will certainly do that. Did you guys strip your non skid first? Did you guys strip your non skid first. I'm not trying to be lazy but could I just clean the boat real good and make sure there's no dirt and paint over it without sanding. I was just going to look for a paint to go over my non skid I guess Interlux makes a paint that I can ue without a non-skid. I did have intentions of painting just the floor but it sounds easy enough to where I should do all of it.

Beaver. How many quarts did she need to do the floor? Did u prime it? Strip it?

I did sand the floor to knock down some of the non skid. Primed it with interlux prekote then sanded again. I use the one part Brightside since I was on a budget and added the non skid into the paint at 4 oz. per quart. I did do one coat without the non skid first so two coats total.

I bought two quarts but may have been able to do it with one.

I used interlux interdeck for the cap and raised casting deck on my 20 and I like it. The cap was sanded down all the way so no previous nonskid was visible. The raised deck got painted right over with the same paint as the cap. Interdeck has fine non skid in it, perfect I think for the top cap, but I will ad the interlux additive when I do the new deck to get more coarse non skid.

Chance, I saw that interdeck and sort of wish I would have used it. I really like the contrast with the sand color. Looks good.
