Default Need Wellfleet MA Expertise

Hey gang, a friend is letting me use his house this July in Wellfleet on Mayo beach, right by the town dock.

Wondering if its worth my while bringing up the SC 18' and paying the $30 a day for slip rental at the town pier.

I have two young kids, so I'd be using the boat for exploring mostly, tie up at a remote beach etc... Looks to me that the spit of sand making Wellfleet harbor looks remote and PERFECT for daily sorties with the boat.

Of course the boat would be loaded with rods for when we see birds working.

Anyone have experience or thoughts on bringing my boat to wellfleet?

Much appreciated!

Garrett

Let me put it to you this way....
One time in my very early years with two small
children in-tow, went to the Keys with out a boat.. It is like getting up in the
morning and NOT brushing your teeth!!
Never again did I make the same mistake...

Boat, water & kids go together!!!

TRIPLE DITTO'S!
Even if it is a PITA during the experience, it will be some of the most treasured time you have or ever will have with the kids. It's not even close!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

QUAD DITTO'S! Wellfleet Bay, Jeremy Point, and Cape Cod Bay have awesome fishing and places to beach the boat. So, bring the boat, trailer to and from the ramp, and have a blast. You could also trailer to Pleasant Bay in Orleans/Chatham and explore that waterway. Anchor up and jump over to the Outer Beach...Have a great stay!

Welfleet is a great harbor, the inner harbor is small, but there is SO much area just 15min away by boat to fish and explore. The ramp fee is 10$ per launch, and with a 19 and a 4wd truck you should be able to launch at low tide! Be careful there are a TON of shallow bars to get hung up on.

Jermeys point is a great place to have lunch and hang out, plenty of protected water to swim. The fish routinely get pushed up to the outside of the sandbar, makes for some FUN times casting on the bars.
