mercury trim problem
hey guys
i had a trim motor go out on me so i replaced it with a brand new mercury motor. everything used to work fine and now when i put the new motor on and put fluid in the resevoir i get no movement. ive heard that its self bleeding but i must be doing something wrong here. does anyone happen to have a manual on cd or possibly a way to post the steps to properly fill and bleed a 93-95 trim system? i think thats the year. my trim unit fills from the back. any help would be great. ive got about 2 weeks to get this right and its driving me up the wall. thanks guys!! |

Re: mercury trim problem
Try opening the manual release valve, lifting the engine then closing the valve and letting it go back down. If that dosent work you might have to remove the trim motor and fill the cavity/pump area with fluid, then reinstall. I've encountered the same problem before, its as if the motor can't get a prime. It is a self bleeding system. Once you get it moving, trim up as far as it will go then add fluid. Continue this until you get the full range of motion.
Hope this helps, Jeff |

Re: mercury trim problem
thanks i got it fixed last night. it turns out i put the pump on backwards and nothing was happening. i tried that manual release valve thing about 100 times with nothing. as soon as i turned the pump around i got movement so i went up/down and added fluid as needed.
