epinions. Gas tank. Poly vs alum?

Is poly compatible w/ ethanol? If so does anyone have a source for a 50 gal tank. Mine`s not out yet , but it`s for an `89 20 sf.

Try the Marine Connection Liquidators, 2970 US1, Ft. Pierce. They have racks full of plastic tanks, was $3-4 per gallon in all different sizes and dimensions. It was recommended we stay less than 50 gal due to no baffling system in them.
The place is full of marine supplies, but you have to know your pricing ... some of it's good, some not.

I believe them to be ok with ethenol when used with the proper hoses, but verity this.

Last time I was at MLC in Ft Pierce they had alum. gas tanks that would probably fit for you. They were 3-4 bucks a gallon. They had some plastic ones, but I don't remember size/shape. Is there a reason your looking for a plastic one vs an alum one? I believe most people use alum.

I was thinking that poly might last longer. {I will try to refrain from thinking in the future}.Is the alum tank structural to the hull? Is that the reason it was foamed in?
Don`t know why I didn`t think of MLC. Thanks. I LOVE that place , but you`re right about the pricing. I too was light on the knowledge once and haven`t forgotten. Used 40 gal oval poly livewell for 75 clams. Not bad , but no great shakes either.

I don't think the tanks are "stuctural" in seacrafts. They were foamed in because that was the way they did it back then. Not a good idea, foam/water in contact with the tank will start it to rust, although it took over 20 years for mine to pit, still wasn't leaking.
