Default 20 MA forward drain

In my 20 MA inside the forward hatch there is a drian that goes thru the hull directly out. I have plug for it but I'm thinking of closing it off and installing a drain that goes into the inside of the hull a d water would then run to the bilge area. The way it is now I see it serving no purpose as if the plug is not in place e everything just gets wet..

Anyone else closed this off?

The boat is at the glass shop and I would like to give the guy a yes or no
