Methacrylate adhesive like plexus would give the best of both worlds for a structural and watertight joint and take much less time than tabbing. This is how many manufacturers do it. you will not be able to remove with without destroying it but as others have said, a structural joint will make everything more solid, you'd be surprised how much less "rattle" you will hear running through chop.
