Default Recoring hatches

I will be recoring two hatches soon and want to use foam instead of wood for insulation and to never have to put wood back in the boat. I've always used poly resin for everything but if I use foam can I even use poly or do I have to go with epoxy since poly heats up and could melt the foam? Also what kind of foam do I need? I'll probably go one inch thick. Thanks.
