Default Rabud Scupper Question

I am restoring a 23' Sceptre right now and so I am working through the scupper issue. I like the Rabud Scuppers but am concerned about what size to get. They come in 1" and 3". (Wouldn't 2" have been perfect ). Anyway, I am going to plumb the scupper drains from the cockpit straight back to drain under the Hermco motor bracket. I also plan to tie in the overflow drains from the livewell. Is that a good idea? I am having a live well installed in the middle of the solid transom so I am not sure where else to route the overflow water.

I am also concerned about safety and the ability to drain water from the cockpit quickly should I take a wave over the bow. It just seems to me that 1" scuppers are too small. What are you guys with 23' Sceptres using? The 1" or the 3"? What are your thoughts on the overflow for the live well being plumbed to the cockpit drain pipe work?

TIA as always!
