Default Hull side coring?

New to classic seacraft, have a build thread on classic mako but am Rebuilding a 1989 Dusky 203 FAC and am contemplating whether i should remove the liner that is on the boat now and start off with new coring. here is the best picture i have now

As you can see i am replacing the floors as a previous owner did and did a crappy job. i also removed the rear boxes shown here

I saw on stricks post he used 3/8" balsa and was wondering what yall think i should do. thanks for the help
