Auuminum fuel tank encapsulated in fiberglass

I bought a 1974 23' Scepter with a aluminum fuel tank encapsulated in fiberglass. I asked a local fiberglass guy who has a good reputation what he thought, he said if he bought a new aluminum tank he would encapsulate it in fiberglass. As far as I know this is the original tank. Any opinions would be appreciated.
