The new hotness...
So my 1975 18SF sold in record time for a record amount back in September, and is now living somewhere in Freeport Maine.
This allowed me to grab the upgrade I was hoping for. A local Cape Cod boat that was owned by a customer of the boatyard I work for. Kinda had my eye on this one for about 6 years or so now. Owner upgraded to a 26 Regulator this season, so I made him an offer. 1979 23 Sceptre with a 2012 Etec (146 hrs), enclosed transom, Armstrong bracket, raised deck, replaced fuel tank, coat of Jade Mist Awlgrip (all in 2002). New Seastar helm, hoses and ram. New-ish Garmin chartplotter-fishfinder (little bitty unit). Full welded stainless bow rail with anchor pulpit. All for less than $10 K! Of course there's a catch. On the flip side, she needs some work. (don't they all?) Major item is a crack in the bottom of the transom across the drain tube. When they enclosed and replaced the transom it appears they left a small void in the bottom of the V, right where they put the drain plug tube, which is just a stupid plastic thru-hull. So over the intervening 15 years it looks like the bracket was working the void/tube over and over again and it eventually cracked. Fortunately its still pretty dry in there. The new-ish plywood isn't rotten or anything, just a bit moist. Boats been in storage for awhile now since we pointed out the crack to the owner during the summer season 2016. So bracket/motor needs to come off the transom and I need to get in there and have a good root around. Small cabin floor is like a trampoline. Need to somehow cut out the floor, re-core it and replace it. Maybe make it removable? Anchor locker bulkhead needs replacement. Bracket needs some primer and paint while its off. Full re-wire with new panel, battery switch, fuse block and batteries. Mouse fur delete. Previous owner lost the bow access ladder so I need to come up with a solution there somehow. Anybody got one kicking around? Or a template? Or some measurements? She's going to live on a mooring and I need to make it easy and safe for the wife to get to the bow. Also need to do a little weight distribution and try and get the bow down a little, and trim her a bit to port. Maybe move the batteries from the transom to the port fwd? Anyhoo, off on another SeaCraft adventure! Here are a couple of pics for you guys to chew on. Sorry some are grainy those are from the previous owner.
