Default Late model repair

I know most of the members here are into the older SeaCraft models (me too). But I'm trying to help someone with the replacement of a fuel tank on a 23'.

The newer models have a 'brightline' (no non-skid) on the deck outlining the fuel tank. I'm looking for someone with experience who can tell us if cutting the deck on that line to get at the tank requires removal of the console.

I haven't seen the boat and don't know the extent of the line. I know the sending unit access is under the leaning post, which is about 30 inches aft of the console.

Thanks for any help or advise on this.
