Growing up I had the same boat with a 235 Johnson and had many great memories and some scared the shit out of me memories.

I've been offed this boat for $400 and I know it's a project but I'm a sucker for these things.

The owner says the engine runs ...it a 90 Johnson and it mounted on a jack plate for some reason. Probably the engine is a 25 inch shaft and the transom is a 20.

Needs new tires and such on the trailer and let's see what else.

It would be a fun boat to run around in it relive my long list youth

So I went to see the checkmate today and after some haggling and I was ready to walk I was able to take it with me for $100. The trailer is worth more than that. It had a crap load of leaves and junk on it so I couldn't walk the deck to see if it had soft spots but when back it looks like it doesn't have any ...will see tomorrow. It came with a 90 Evinrude complete with everything and I found a nice SS prop under the deck. That alone is worth the $100. It has a CMC jack plate that I'm going to take off and sell. I get why he put it on...the transom is a20 and the engine is a 25. A big plus is that it has hydraulic steering that works.

Going to get a battery and connect it and see what happens.

It's going to be a quick turnaround on this one and then I can relive my youth again.

Today I took a pressure cleaner and knocked out most of the mold and crime. Lucky the glued on rug looks like it mostly loose and easy to take out. Plan is to get a battery and gas and see if it cranks up. Either way the motor comes off and I’m going to remove the mask plate and aluminum plate from the transom. Tithe engine looks clean and it spins by hand. Let’s see how the transom is. If it’s bad it’s another Arjay job. Looking around to get the 2 bucket seats and rear seating.

Couple of days ago I went in and cut out all the old, worn out and just plain bad crap out of the boat. Today I dropped it off the have the engine a.
nd jack plate removed. I plan on removing the cap so I can get at the transom.

Question is what plywood should I use? Home depot had 3/4 marine ply at $110 a sheet.

I know not to use pressure treated ply so what other options are there?
And while I'm at it and I'm a gluten for punishment I might as well redo the deck.

And don't worry the 20MA just got some more goodies to be put on

Took out the rotten wet transom the last 2 days. Some of it came out easy some not. Hardest part was the last bit of wood and the putty they used, but not it nice and clean. Went by my glass guys for some advise as to put it back in.
It will be in by the weekend and then the fun on the deck begins

Today I began reinstalling the transom. Clean it up with the sander wiped it with acetone and then 2 layers of mat followed up with a layer of 7404.

Tomorrow I'll cut the marine ply to fit gab it in and the another 2 layers of mat a 2 layers of 7404 with some up along the side of the hull.

If not for the rain I would have the transom installed and been able to get the floor out.

With the potential for rail today and tomorrow I went ahead and took out the deck.
There's not much deck in this boat so not to bad. Whoever did the floor was a idiot. The whole floor was soaked because he didn't want to spend the extra $100 to glass the bottom. So with the years it just became a sponge. Good thing is that it came out really easy.
