Peter, I live on Cape and tow my 23' Sceptre with a '14 TRD Sport. Twice a year it is fine to go 3 miles to the ramp. If you are planning on trailering full time get a 20' or a Tundra.

Peter,

I live on cape as well. And seeing that your from Eastham you are probably going to use the welfleet ramp or possibly pamet in truro. Those two ramps are steep and more than likely are going to give your tacoma hell. I know a fella on here name joshmon uses a toyota to haul is 23 bracketed CC and uses those ramps. I know the rock harbor ramp and river rd are a lot less steep are easy tows.

A few years ago Eastham used to have a DOT designated officer and you may get yourself in some trouble over weight towing.

Typically for me I have a 25 inch transom and the steepness of the ramp, I have water coming over the transom when I load, makes for a little more umph to get up the ramp. Had the same problem with my 20 on these ramps. But that was never an issue.

I personally use a F150 Ecoboost to tow my 23 scepter and have no problems. I foresee you having more trouble getting up a wet ramp and having to use 4x4.

I agree with ccmontauk, get a bigger truck if you want the 23. Or get a 20. Too much tourist traffic to not have good stopping ability. Your truck will tow it, but it won't stop it.

Yup I figured the 20 was the limit for my Tacoma. And should be enough boat. Unfortunately I see a couple really nice 23 s for sale near here". Makes me regret selling my tundra". Thanks guys for the advice.
