Default Prop for 77 23 spetre

Finally got to run the boat for the first time after months of refurbishing her.I'm currently running a Mercury Vengence 17"pitch on a single 99 Merc 225 and only getting about 4900rpm at WOT.
From what I have been reading the Mirage plus or Revolution 4 seems to be the perfect match.
Should I drop down to a 15" ?
What are you Septre guys w/single 225s running?
Thanks for any advise

That is a tricky question. I had a 14 1/2X17 on my 200 hp Merc and easily turned 5500 and 44 MPH. I now run a 225 Honda and it has 14 1/4X17 and turns 5800+ for 41-42 mph w/3 adults and about 80 gl of fuel. The Honda prop is not a responsive as the Merc was, could be the extra 220#s of engine sitting there on the transom
My ride is a 23WA so weight wise, etc about the same.
Obviously you need to get your RPMs up about 400 more or so.
