Default WHAT HAPPEN TO CAPE COD GATHERING ??????????

Last summer i thought there was a meet at barnstable harbor, i trailered my boat to the canal power plant(coast guard station)and took off from there. The weather was beautiful but i did not see a SeaCraft all day long. I was very dissapointed, i wasn't expecting that kind of outcome.

I don't know the deal. I recall that 2 guys went out looking for the Gathering that day and found nobody . Being in Florida and having had 2 recently successful events and going on the 3rd event in April (See Long Point Event), I can tell you that between East Central and West Central Florida we get a bunch of people. I have seen many events crash and burn, though. You need to get down here and meet the Original Founding Father at our April event and see what we are doing. We have folks coming from NY, TX, the Carolinas, Ect. who think this event is worth the time and $$.

Havn't been on this site since last spring, cause once spring came i was out on the cape cod bay every weekend and usually every evening after work (tide depending). so if you ever see a 71 20' blue seafari flag me down and we'll have a cold one and a chat!!!!! Last summer my computer crashed and i was spending my money on the boat rather than computer (in my opinon VERY understandable) so i wasn't on this site at all. But now i'm back online so i'll try and check as often as i can!! so hopefully we can get something together. last year before my computer crashed everyone was very undecided what to do and worried about launching and parking ect. The way i look at it is that it is just a little bay!!!! if you put your boat in in any town on cape or anywhere up the coast to plymouth it's pretty easy to get to where ever you want to on the bay!!!! I cross the bay all the time in a 20' boat by myself, actually my dog is usually with me!!! sometimes it takes me 45 min. sometimes when the wind picks up and the seas get big it's taken me 2 1/2 hours to come home!!!! But hell this is what i live for!!!! if you like to be on the water you'll make anything happen!!!!!!!! JUST DO IT!!!! Hope to see some of you this summer!!! i've already been out alot in the past month and have had a blast!!! except for the gas, but like i said this is what i live for and i make it happen!!!!!

Originally we were having it in Newport, RI the weekend of the Jazz festival. It was well attended for those years. Three years ago we were blessed with SBFT just off Newport.

Two years ago some members felt it would be good to change it to Cape Cod. It was pretty well attended, but there were few Cape Cod members there. The next year it fizzled.

I had a schedule conflict and could not attend, but can also say that compared to RI in July, there are far fewer fishing venues, public ramps and other conveniences for traveling boaters. Maybe that has an effect.

So who's in charge of getting it started up again? There is a great bluefin bight picking up right now, and the striper have been charging pretty hard.

Can I nominate bigshrimpin to lead this effort?

I would like to have an event up here in massachussetts, its just the problem of getting down to cape cod. My dad dosent like to trailer the boat and ive only been about 3 miles off shore, im up for it, i know my dad can do it hes been captaining boats since he was 8 and hes handled the boat in 8-10 foot breakers before. If someone cooradenates it ill try to convince him.
