20’SF Rod Holder area ideas
I wanted to see if anyone has done anything creative with the bow rod holder area on the 20SF. I’m redoing old coaming bolsters around the bow for the wife and kids to be more comfortable and was thinking there must be a better use of that space. I was thinking of maybe some cup holders or something along those lines. I’m luckily enough to have a boat on a canal in my backyard so using that area for storage has never been for me. Prob only used it a few times to hold rods and IMO doesn’t do a good job keeping them safe (always from kids).
So my question is has anyone come up with any creative idea to better utilize this area? |

When I finish my rebuild I plan on seadecking that area for appearance but I am curious of other ideas people have.

On my 76' SF, my wife glued indoor/outdoor carpet to the outer glass walls and I made-up 4 wood rod holders (2 per side) and can carry 4 to 5 rigged fly rods, a couple of spinning rods, a paddle and a gaff when needed.

Finished cup holders
after 2 months of thinking about it I finally was able to finish some cup holders in the rod area. Haven’t filled the whole area but it seems to be a good spot for drinks for the wife and kids sitting on the bow. Got 4 stainless cup holders in amazon and used 3/4 inch plastic board. Came out great. Hopefully put them to use next weekend.
Still trying to figure out if the forward space could be used for storage or something but these are a good start. |
