Default Foil Sticker Serial Number

My Seafari has had the transom replaced and they didn't save the HIN.
She has a new HIN assigned by the state.
I have an idea of when she was made, but not the exact date.

In the process of restoring the boat,
I managed to save the foil label mounted to the bulkhead, as well
as the second ID label placed there by the state.
I'm going to clear coat and re-attach the labels using this teak board,
just for posterity.

My question is this:
Does the serial number "2365" on the foil sticker mean anything
in terms of production date?
If not, what does 2365 refer to?

Thank you!

The HIN requirement didn't come along till the 1973, so if your boat is a '72 as I think it is, it never had a HIN number on the transom. Mine is all original and doesn't have one either. The 2365 number is the hull serial number. I think mine is 2203, so your boat is a bit newer than mine. Moesly and Potter only made a total of about 700 Seafaris in the 10 or eleven years they were in production, so the very first hull number may have been 2000.

Ah ha! Thank you, sir, this is exactly the information that I was after!

Dogbomb, you have serious issues with your HIN !!!

The State of Californifacation will not recognize your sticker from
Taxachusetts ......

Gov. Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown will have your boat destroyed
due to the fact that it has a heavy carbon foot print....;

Then you will be burdened with the cost of sanitation and disposal.
That hazardous disposal fee will eat you up...

Your best bet is to silently have your vessel moved out of state under
the cover of darkness over a holiday weekend...

This is your last chance right "NOW" to rid yourself of this terrible environmental disaster before it is too late !!

For the sake of all mankind find it in your heart to save us all
from this terrible contamination of our precious planet .....

Did I mention global warming.....

OK, I feel better now.................

No worries, I turned the Suzuki into a green oxygen generating planter box.
The boat is now powered by 3 hungry hamsters spinning two blade props
made from recycled Hummers. I earn $12,345 in tax rebates every time
I leave the harbor.

Good info. I think I read a few places something about 349 total produced, but I'm thinking that may have been specific to Potter-built 20' Seafaris. Can you confirm that, or correct me please?

The production numbers are listed in the Literature section under CSC Home. Potter & Moesly produced a total of 349 outboard Seafari's and another 392 I/O models for a total of 741. Up thru 1972, they had produced 155 OB and 243 I/O models or a total of 398, so with DB's 2265 serial number, I'm guessing the first hull was probably S/N 2000 or 2100.

My serial number is 2046 so 2000 is probably right for the beginning.
