Thanks!!! i found the boat and went to check it out. I did a compression test on the motor and one cylinder was 30 lbs less then the rest of them. The motor is a 1988 225 Johnson. the trailer was like new,6700gvw and the hull is in good shape. the paint is chipping off. looks like some one did it with a spray can. i put the DA to it and the gel coat is in pretty good shape. transom is solid and the floor is in good shape also. back to the motor, well i bought the boat on Saturday and the motor blew on Sunday!!!!!!!!!!! so i need power! i have some plans for this boat, pilot house, full transom and bracket and trim tabs. going to get power and the pilot house and use it that way for the season and do the rest over the winter. i can get a 2001 225 DI evinrude ficht for a good price. does anyone have anything to say about these motors?

I'm pretty sure he means the year of the hull, since it's not stated, and the engine year is.

I believe the earlier FICHT motors were not very reliable but not sure what years.

Stay away from FICHT motors...in general they are JUNK...I would recommend saving some $$$ and buy a 4 stroke....save alot of $$$ on gas and oil...not to mention they are much more reliable than the 2 strokes. JMHO
