Console /dash rejuvenation

Here is what i basically started out with, I wish I had taken a pic before I removed it all but yo can get the general picture-Very Ugly !!!!(but it did have the old seacraft logo on it)



The next few pictures are after I finished it.The first one here though you can see that the horizontal plane where the compass sits was still ugly so I decided that it needed to be black also to match the rest.Also after I cut the starboard, I laid out a pattern on cardboard and drew out everything as to where I thought I would want it, radar and bottom machine close to where I wouldnt have to turn my head far to see it, and also the radar closest to my hand for playing and adjusting. After playing with the set-up I cut the holes for everything and took them into my livingroom and basically wired the whole dash to some but not a whole lot oflip-service. All the gages are brand new teleflex gages,I added a fuel gage where it had a 3 way switch before for 1 gage, now I have 2 fuel gages one for each tank, all the other normal gages and also my new Navman !!!I moved the gps,loran down from the t-top box to a straight and easy to operate location. The crink I get in my neck when running offshore broke me of the t-top box deal pretty quick. The I-com picks up all noise vhf is over where I still can see it but I dont need to adjust it too much except turning it off . [img]images/icons/rolleyes.gif[/img] I thought about putting starboard where the helm is and maybe I will one day but thought it migh get to hot in the summer but Im not sure. I do plan on putting it under the gps and loran when I get the time.

Note the extra starboard and also my new steerinwheel(thats go along with my new hydraulic system)

I threw in this next picture that shows a close up of the 8 gang blue seas switch panel for all the basic stuff, but notice the blue seas individual fuses that I ran seperately for my electronics and I removed the inlines that would be behind the console were if one blew you would be breaking your neck to figure out where it was to change it. Labeled and easy access.

This is the console cover I made to keep my stuff clean and also will kind of hide my stuff at night also when moored.



Anyone tired of te pictures yet ??? mama said they were the ugliest pictures she has ever seen and why would I waste film??? I told her to go get her own camera. [img]images/icons/cool.gif[/img]

Next 2 shots are of the wiring job I did behind the console and the junction block that connects the console to the rest of the boat. The whole boat has been rewired and I am happy with the way it turned out, the best part being that everyting works !!! Craig

Also,There is a fiberglass cover that went over the back of the instrument panel that I no longer have use for since everything is now flush mounted. If anyone is interested lemme know. You can see the 2 pieces of wood were it was previously attached.



Again hope this wasnt too long- all the outstanding work you guys do I didnt think I as contributing a whole lot. SWMBO (she who must be obeyed) says I am #1 jerry rigger in America. I am happy with the way everthing turned out though. craig

Nice work Miles, that looks great. I love my new Blue Seas switches also glad I got them. I only wish my console was that big [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img] you've got alot of room there.

That looks Great ! I'm fixing to do the same thing,to Mine.I have enough black starboard , but the guy that did My transom molded a complete instrument panel out of glass . It's white.All the electronics are Black so I guess the ??
will look OK.I've got a few offers for hELP,& i'LL PROBABLY TAKE EM UP.no IDEA WHATS GONNA HAPPEN.Looks Good.

I appreciate the compliments guys,it was hard work for a novice electrician like me [img]images/icons/shocked.gif[/img] to undertake, and after I started the project it just keep growing.I ended up rewiring the whole boat in Addition to the console. I just couldnt believe the time I spent running back and forth to get different lug or connectors, the amount of money I spent on wire, wire connectors, lugs etc, every different size or stlye thats made. It was kind of fun wiring it up. I really cant wait to see if the new steering will work.I have been struggling with the cable steering since Ive had the boat.I think this hydraulic is finally going to be te ticket,we shall see. ,Chris, it's the original console, kinda beat up in a couple of spots but not bad. John, I thought I had a lot of gages, but you really have a lot!!!

I got it finally @ the boat show,Now thinking about it they owe Me a $20.
REBATE.I really wanted one with a Left Mike wire exit.Find Me one of those & I may trade before I cut the Instrument panel.Stereo next to the wife vhf next to me.
Consumer electronics, I think thats who I got it thru.No tax or shipping !$119. final $ I beleive there was a post before,Look where everyone was addind www addresses on the sight.
