'79 Potter built 23'CC
" Time has come today" Started tearing apart my 23'CC. I bought this boat about 3 years ago with a weak transom and a soft spot in the floor. I got one season out of the transom before it was replaced.Now it's time to redo the decks. I'm doing all the demo and prep work right now in an old duck barn at the marina where I keep it. The price was right but the conditions are rough and the Long Island winter hasn't helped my progress.Anyway i'm in it now and there's no turning back now. I'm going to keep the same setup as far as deck layout is concerned, I like the stepup casting platform and the storage that forward compartment provides,put in a new but smaller gas tank 100 gal down to 75 gal. and then take the cap off and recore it. So here we go, let me know what you think.
Sorry about the sideway's pictures , is there a way to fix?

Sorry the sequince of the pictures got changed too.
Today hope to take exterior foam out of the starboard side and vacuum and clean up. I was thinking about drilling a few holes into the stringers and try to pull out core samples of the foam and check for moisture before cutting the tops off the stringers. Exterior foam wasn't bad.

Man o man those are some familiar views!! Looking good!!! I'm with ya on the tank, if my tank ever gets replaced I'm going from my 144 gal down to 100!! With my new engine I really don't see me needing a 500 mile range with the 144 gallons!!!

My tank also needs to be replaced because it lacks a required tag giving the date it was built, materials, test pressure and a few other things that the Coast Guard requires. Also needs an antisiphon valve too so it;'s time

Don't Forget that centerline stringer is PVC and non supportive. You don't need to remove it. Nice moisture channel

Got all that exterior foam out and gave it a good vacuum to see what I've got. Found a trickle of water coming out of at aft most wide stringers the starboard side so I guess that answers my question is the interior foam wet. Bummer!

Removed about half of soaked and partially frozen foam.I could see the water squeeze out as I pried apart chunks to get out. A spade (Shovel) is definitely the way to go. A machete helps too HaHa. Hey this is war!

I figured it to be 104 gal. No leaks but not legal and I dont need that much capacity so going to go with around 75 gal.
