Default Thoughts on 2003 21 SC

What are the real differences vs say a 74 20'? Are there issues with the 21? Does the wood in the transom need a moisture meter? What about wood in the decks? Wiring? How does the increased length, beam and forward center of gravity change the ride? the I'm going to look at one this weekend. Thinking about picking it up to use while I tear apart, re-core and redo my 20.

Cheers, RyBones

The thing that kills me with the newer boats is there is no room under the console!

There is no wood in that 21..night and day difference between the two. Having previously owned 2 20's and now a 21 the 20 feels more like a skiff to me now.

21' Man vs. 20' boy. the newer 21' is very similar to a 23' with 2' cut off.

last two post are on point...not even a tooth pick of wood in the newer 21...I have lots of room in my console. I have a large house battery under there and a freshwater washdown tank, along with fuse term, speakers mounted for sound system, I have a glove box where the switches were. and a fwd tackle locker behind the front seat and I still can work on everything under there. most here know I had a 20 Potter for 30 years,,, fun boat but yea its more like a skiff , the 21 has more in common with the 23 than the 20...someday I will learn to post photos on here lol

Thanks everybody. Everything everyone said was spot-on. I totally get the idea between the big boat and the skiff feel. I like the idea of the 21 for the offshore but the versatility I get out of the 20 in Southwest Florida is indispensable for my purposes. Other big considerations for me are the ease of trailering (lightweight), simplicity of launching and recovering single-handedly and being able to maintain a high cruising speed with a smaller engine for decent fuel economy. So instead of moving to the 21 I'm just going to retool my 20 alittle bit.
