23 CC and thinking 300 Suzuki Repower
Hi Guys,
I am repowering my 2004 23 CC and leaning towards the 300 Suzuki. Merc 225 Opti on there now. Am I good with the weight of 620lbs? Seems like it, but just double checking here with folks with experience. Thoughts on a jack plate? Don't have one now. Are they really a big difference maker? If so, how much setback is needed? 5" or 10"? Thanks

Look down six threads in the same section your post is in, the "performance" section, and there are some answers for you.

I did read that thread, but those are some different configurations with either a floatation bracket, older models, or Seafaris/Tsunamis.
Wondering if anyone had thoughts for the CC models from the 2000's. Thanks

5 or 10" cmc bracket and a 300ap will be all you will ever want. You could even go with a 25" on the transom and it would work great. For the money there isn't a better deal out there.

The 300 is a great motor for that hull. I know there are some threads on here with a 300 on a newer hull. The weight isn't an issue with that new model.

Thanks, I pulled the trigger and looking forward to getting it on there! Suzuki has some special promos going right now and its a killer deal on motors!

I put a 300 Suzuki on the transom of my '98. The stern does sit a little deeper in the water but not to the point of getting water on the deck. I think if you move the mounting point back with a jack plate it will give the weight of the motor more leverage to lower the stern. I had the new motor mounted in the same hole as the 225 Opti that I took off, center of five holes. The Suzuki seems to mount lower, I don't think it's just the weight difference, it looks like the whole mount sits lower on the transom. I'm thinking I might have to raise it one hole. I wouldn't bother with any setback.

I had a 2005 23' SC with a 250 Verado and the boat sat fine. The verado is quite a bit heavier than the Suzuki so you should be fine.

I wish I was!!! I would love a 250 HO G2, however I would have to sleep with it....along with the no-see-ums!!
