Default New Purchase - 1977 SeaCraft 18SF

Hey everyone,

My name is Kraig, I am stationed down at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS, and I finally got myself a classic SeaCraft (after 7-8 months of looking) ...1977 18SF with a 1995 Evinrude OceanPro Offshore 150HP engine (approx 350 hours). Absolutely flawless and maintained very well by the three prior owners (All Doctors, who provided silly amounts of paperwork/bills of sale/receipts/owners manuals, etc.) for this beaut.

My plans are to use her mainly for the barrier islands (Horn Island, Petit Bois Island and Ship Island off the MS coast) and also to hit the oil rigs for kings/mahi (depending). Last owner put in a brand new 47 gallon aluminum tank and the transom was raised 5 inches (as I'm starting to see is quite common). Went ahead and got insurance through Charter Lakes for under 300/year and applied for titles on the hull/engine. Plans are to get a small pair of tabs for the boat (suggestions? 9x9?) as well as sand down the teak and seal it (again, suggestions?). Just learned about this forum, believe it or not...through my Cousin Arioch (BoatBoy6). Let me know what you guys think about the boat/condition and any suggestions would be appreciated. I look forward to keepin' her classy looking...amazing lines on these boats. What kind of seas can the 18SF handle? Look forward to hearing input...check out the pictures below:

Looking spiffy Kraig! It's too bad you're not closer, SeaCraft's should be run in packs! Can't wait to come down and put her through her paces.

Thank you for your service. Bennett trim tabs will recommend a sizing if you'll visit their site/customer service section. I saw this for sale a while back and thought it would be a really nice one to have. Good luck and everybody here loves pics!

Welcome to CSC! The Hull does look in fantastic condition.

1.) Be sure to check if MS has a discount for your Registration / Tag considering your vessel is over 25 years old.

2.) Go with Bennett M80 sport tabs ---------------------> video link ----------------> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKghuPCTpz8

Enjoy the ride and the hours of Classic SeaCraft site browsing while your standing watch

Awesome, thank you to everyone who responded! @dginge...small world!! It seems as if you and the prior owners took care of this boat the right way, so I appreciate all your time and effort on this classic. I plan on going with Bennett hydraulic tabs on the boat and using the heck out of it! She already got a full wax compound, as you can tell from the photos and I plan on taking her out ASAP. Will keep the forum posted with updates/pics. Thanks!

Best of luck with your 18, it looks great. I also bought an unmolested 18 sf last fall to add to my collection. I think they are a handy size for inshore use and of course the ride is special as you have discovered
