23 Savage w jackshaft I/O???
Looking at some of the 23 Savage I/Bs like Zendora and having ridden in a friends Savage I/B many years ago in Stuart, I love the layout - but I have a 23 Sceptre I/O...
Apparently only one was built as a jackshaft configuration (I/O with engine under the console); I wonder if it did not work out well or just did not have a market??? Would it work well? The engine would end up being about at the CG and the fuel aft - not the best plan, but that is the I/B configuration already. All I would need is a console and a Bravo jackshaft kit. I have to buy a fuel tank anyways so 2 smaller ones wouldn't be a big deal. I probably can't afford the additional 5-8k to do it and probably don't have time, but I already have a disassembled boat ... |

I can't see it being much different than the sceptre Ib in terms of weight distribution. I think I would be a sweet ride. The ride quality plus the manuveranility and shallow water capability of the out drive

Go for it! If done right, I think putting the engine in the center of the boat will improve the ride. Not sure if that's accurate with a jackshaft setup, but I will say that the ride on the inboard is pretty damn great. My boat is set up with 2 55 gal fuel tanks under the aft deck on top of each stringer - I imagine you'd have to modify your stringers and do the same thing. Best of luck, looking forward to some pics.
