Default Fuel pump

Have 05 150 mercury carb today the seatow captain said I should add a fuel pump. He said it would fix slow starts and stalls when docking which is not a problem just slow starts. Has anyone done this? He said to mount close to the fuel tank his is in the console wired to the ingination so come on when he turns the key. Would the bilge be a safer place before the racor? Thanks

no need - it won't help, unless you don't squeeze the bulb up

An external gasoline pump (DIRECTLY WIRED TO SWITCH!!!)is not a good thing to have. Think safety, a leak in the pressurized side can go unnoticed then anything can ignite it. Bad Advise. Fix the start problem, don't try to mask it.
