Default Experience w/ 24" bracket on 20 SF?

Has anyone had experience with a 24" bracket on a 20 SF?

I've seen a few of you guys post remarks about getting full tilt on theoretical situations using 24 & 25" setbacks, just not any actual pics or applications. (other than the CAD pics; good stuff, nonetheless) Bracket builder yesterday tells me differently - stating 24" will likely hit the transom in full tilt... Wondering if anyone has had the cajones to push it - and if so, where the trim limiting might come into play.

175/200 etec/optimax 25"
Full transom

Thanks in Advance
Drew

Clearance will depend on what motor you go with, but based on measurements of my rig with 30" setback (see attached pics) with motor at full tilt, I could clearly get away with a 24" setback, or maybe a bit less. I have raised the motor an inch since these pictures were taken so I'm sure I have at least 8" or more of clearance if I were to measure straight back from the top of the transom.

Denny,
Somehow some way I knew you would come through as well. I am, however wanting to know if there is a height difference in the seafari transom and sf transom... Thanks for the pics!
Lord wrench - you own an inspiring 20 sf. If you have time to take any pics and or measurements, that would be killer. Wish I could return the favor...
Thanks
Drew

Drew,

I don't know about transom height on the later non-Potter CC models with 25" transoms, but I'm pretty sure that Moesly & Potter used the same basic hull mold for all the 20' Seafari, Scepter and CC models. The distance from the chine to the top of the cap at the transom, as measured along the hull, is 24" on my boat. I believe that only the inner liner and cap were different.

Now when Don Herman filled in my transom, he DID use a batten across the cutout (see pic below) to create a smooth curve between the two existing sides, so it might be slightly higher in the center than if you laid a straight line across an existing cutout, but I doubt that it added more than about half an inch.

Come on Denny! Even an engineer without his slide rule can see that is more than a 1/2" crown!
